Virtual Earth Maps

For one of our XML / XSLT driven travel websites we took the implementation of Virtual Earth Maps one abstraction level higher by defining the map and location data like Lat / Long, description, Url, etc. within the xml source file. That semantic definition of a map allows to create a map with few steps and XSLT and some Javascript takes care of generating the correct code. This separation of data and code makes maintenance an easy task. The implementation makes sense for sites that need to include many different maps and where an editor shall not be bothered with Javascript details.
For small websites this type of abstraction level is not really needed and a map can better be included directly into the web page.

We consider Interactive Maps like Virtual Earth (and Google Earth) currently as the best form of displaying locations, e.g. office locations, destination points, venue locations or for Real Estate purposes. Such a map makes it a pleasure for your website's visitors to find out where you are located and they do not have to leave your website.

Ask us for your website project about the implementation of an interactive map.
Best regards
Cheers, Frank
