Review 1st quarter 09

A review: Projetcs finished, new ones on its way

The economy is not what it was, no doubt. Anyhow, may be because of our German genes or just because of being fortunate, we were adapting to the economic situation, made efficient moves and will be around for the time to come.
We finshed all of our first quarter '09 projects on time. One website, which we developed as the (already) third generation website for our client went online a short while while ago and even if everything changed... there was no loss what-so-ever regarding Google ranking! This is especially important for a site which established its ranking over so many years and taking care of that aspect of web design is part of our philosophy and work. Even better, the site receives more traffic since it went online one month ago: we improved the SEO portion of the site as well and enjoy looking at the statistics.

Two clients for whom we cretaed their first website contacted us as and want us to create their new (state-of-the-art) site. One is a client in the medical sector and one is a high end furniture designer. We are definetly looking forward to plan these projects.

Another new client is from the Longmont, Colorado, area and contracted us for a new website which is supposed to set a new standard in its industry (which is very creative as well). We have completed the design stage and the new site's production will start soon. The look & feel will definitely set a high standard for the industry and we are looking forward to start producing.

On a side note: we are looking back on several successful integrations of 'news blogs' into existing websites. There were different scenarios to accommodate and if you have need for a seemless integration of blogging functionality into your website then we are happy to consult and assist you. The same can be said for message boards (a user forum), Both, blog and forum, can be essential and helpful parts of a modern website. And we believe that aesthetics do not have to suffer.

Behind the scenes we evaluated lots of new technologies and some are promising. Very promising. In the animation and interactive arena we feel more and more that Silverlight has big advantages over Flash and we believe that we can integrate several modules in the near future. Flash might have lost ist spin and Silverlight is just on its way to the top. Have to observe the percentage of user installations and we go from there.

Analytics (web statistics) Tools: we are sorry to see Microsoft Analytics go... we were beta users for quite a while and the tool was in many parts better than Google Analytics but MS decided to let it die. Anyhow, no time to be sad, we will be on the watch for what is coming. 'Til then, Google Analytics is an amazing statistics tool and the integration of Google AdWords and eCommerce is fantastic. Good work, Google.

There's much more to mention but the notes I made over the past months seem a little bit cryptic sometimes. I will continue to post once I find the time and if I find out what my notes meant.

Best regards
Cheers, Frank
